BÉATRICE ET PASCAL LAMBERT

Chinon | Loire Valley, France

forefront of biodynamics in the loire valley

Since 1987 the Lambert family has been tending to their small 17ha of vines in the small satellite village of Chinon called Cravants les Coteaux, producing wines organically since 2000 and biodynamically since 2005. The Lamberts were at the forefront of biodynamics in the Loire Valley,  always working with Mother Earth in mind. Their care for nature and choice to allow their wines to  express themselves naturally with no additives has resulted in wonderfully vibrant and textural Cabernet Franc and Chenin Blanc.

classic but unique

The soils here are diverse,  with a mix of limestone-clay, flint-clay, sand, and gravel, inspiring the name of their beloved Chinon cuvée Les Terrasses. There is a careful amount of consideration that goes into soil regeneration not only through the process of biodynamics but also by planting different cover crops amongst the vines each year to add nutrients back to the topsoil and avoid the use of chemical fertilizers. Lambert’s wines are classic Chinon in style, but with a unique fresh and energetic verve that keeps you sipping, also offering excellent value at their price point.

stopped us in our tracks

Pascal Lambert is another contact we met organically through a dinner we shared with Julie, Loïc & Philippe during our favourite annual tasting in Angers. Many bottles were shared, but it was Pascal’s magnum of Les Terasses that stopped us in our tracks, it was stunning and we knew it was a wine we would love to represent: the rest is history.
