seabreeze sophistication & hedonistic chuggability
Château de Roquefort grows both organic and biodynamic wines at the appellation’s edge in Côtes de Provence near Bandol. These 29ha of vines at a steep 390m elevation grow on limestone and clay soils giving these wines a distinct sense of terroir.
The winery was recently acquired by new owners Cédric and Violaine Menet, while being new to the wine industry, they are committed to carrying on the previous owner/famed winemaker Raimond de Villeneuve’s dedication to making quality natural wines.
Raimond’s assistant and protégée Margaux Gentile has taken over the reins with an aim to make amazing wines, that Raimond would be proud of. Margaux’s winemaking is on point in this newly released vintage of Gueule de Loup, our favourite house red, a wine that is both rustic and elegant.
equal parts finesse and fun
The wines of Chateau de Roquefort are joyful and energetic wines, mediating between the salty Mediterranean seabreeze sophistication and hedonistic chuggability. The wines are equal parts finesse and fun, not “serious” wines but are intended for all those who "seriously" like to drink wine!
These wines have long been championed by Fergus Henderson and the wine team at St. John in London, and we are proud to represent them in Ontario to other fine restaurants.
